The EHS InvenTeam had the pleasure of attending and working at the JV InvenTeam event on Thursday, May 29th. The team had so much fun at the Houston Children's Museum leading the stations and listening to presentations. The team is so grateful to have been part of such a wonderful event. Wishing the JV InvenTeams the best with their future projects!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02999650056284575171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6333422301262725788.post-28118285607673128072014-06-07T08:46:00.002-07:002014-06-07T09:19:00.263-07:00WASH3D Intro Video<iframe width="480" height="311" src="http://www.powtoon.com/embed/dvzW6P0BoCE/" frameborder="0"></iframe>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02999650056284575171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6333422301262725788.post-29674769266163085702014-05-13T12:46:00.001-07:002014-05-13T12:46:48.783-07:00Bacteria Testing!<div class="MsoNormal">

couple of weeks ago we took some 3D active glasses and tested the nose piece,
lens, and side piece for bacteria. We used a bacteria testing kit and swabbed
different test points on 12 glasses.
After doing so, we let the bacteria grow in our science lab
incubator. Yesterday we took the samples
out to see how much bacteria were on the glasses. To our amazement two of the
12 glasses that we tested were actually somewhat clean; however the other 10
glasses had lots of bacteria. We will go back and run the glasses through our
device, WASH3D, and see how the bacteria levels change. We will then do the
correct statistical testing to get a better idea of how well WASH3D works
compared to the current cleaning method.
Looking at the bacteria really makes you lose your appetite. </div>

On
April 26th we held our final review and it was very successful! We
had about 50 people show up and listen to our presentation and go through our
stations. We were even able to show a demo of how WASH3D really works! Check
out our presentation on YouTube! A big thank you to everyone who showed up and
to the team for working so hard these last couple of months!<br />

On Tuesday
April 14th, members from our coding team had the opportunity to
meet with some Texas Instruments workers, our mentors. They were able to ask
questions and get the issues they were having clarified. At the meeting, the mentors gave us advice
such as using a button instead of a computer, using a charger like system
instead of using a laptop, using LED lights to indicate high or low loads, as
well as figuring out what voltage, current and/or power all the outputs need. The team has been suggested to create a
schematic so the mentors get a better idea on how to help out. They are also
insisted on creating a report soon and letting TI know how well the products
are working out for them. In addition to the meeting, the team got a tour as
well as extra materials!</div>

It was very successful as we had numerous people show up. We also decided on holding another review sometime in April. We received a lot of helpful ideas and feedback from the attendees. Our presentation opened the eyes of many movie-goers as how effective our project really is. We had many members crowd the project table to see how much of the project has been done and received a lot of feedback on how to tweak our project to make it better. They all enjoyed learning about the difference between active and passive glasses, as some attendees did not know there were two types of 3D glasses. We also had a great response to our statistics table and received feedback on how we should obtain some economical feedback on how our project will affect the movie theaters, economy and etc. Overall the mid-review really helped us understand what the people of our community think about our project and what we should do differently for another review and even Eureka Fest. We cannot wait for our next review and we are hoping that we can have more people show up!
